Our philosophy has a strong self-management emphasis and we use Pilates frequently to support this active approach to rehabilitation. Manual therapy is utilised when required. You will support the Clinical Service Coordinator in the leadership of nurses in the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU), and manage the delivery of high quality nursing care to the acute emergency patients who are accommodated within the Unit. Playing an integral role in liaising with ward nursing staff and the treating doctor, together with allied health professionals, you will facilitate timely and appropriate discharge or admission to the relevant ward. You will provide the interface between the Emergency Department and the inpatient medical wards and the Acute Assessment Unit to ensure the patient flow is managed efficiently and in a timely manner. You will be accountable for your own practice standards, activities delegated to others and for the guidance and development of less experienced staff. As part of your duties, you will also assist the Clinical Service Coordinator to maintain and record monitoring and evaluative research activities in the AAU.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. In addition, you will demonstrate clinical nursing knowledge and skills relevant to the assessment and care of patients who need advanced nursing care, and utilise evidence-based practice to achieve quality patient outcomes. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
