A need has arisen for a highly skilled Applications Engineer to join their rewarding team to assist in the implementation and management of customised MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) for large projects. Training and development of technical support staff will also form part of this role. Key responsibilities of the role: Producing technical and functional design systems specifications (with some guidance). Ensuring key deliverables (design, tools, documentation, schedule and budget) are in place prior to systems implementation. Executing set work assignments in line with quality assured and standardised systems. Regular communication with customers to understand customer and project requirements. Referral of potential improvements to the existing project plan to key relevant engineering personnel. Supervision of work set against project plan and ensuring successful completion within time and budgetary constraints. Communication of technical information to relevant team members. Progress reports and notifications of technical issues to senior management. Some interstate travel as required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate: 3+ years in a relevant field (Mining, Oil & Gas preferred). Tertiary qualifications in relevant disciplines ( Electrical/Instrumentation/Chemical engineering and/or Information Technology ). Practical knowledge of the development/execution of MES software applications in a process control environment. Significant exposure to Distributed Control Systems and Plant Logic . Good database software experience - Oracle and SQL Server . Advanced programming skills in Visual Basic .NET or web based languages. Skilled aptitude in MS Office applications within a Windows OS environment . Good technical writing and communication skills (written and verbal). Reporting to the Manager – Engineering, the Principal Engineer – Electrical will operate as a member of the Engineering Management Team who develop and implement group objectives. Whilst managing a team of specialists to provide a high level electrical engineering design, site audit and technical support service, the Principal Engineer – Electrical will champion technical guidelines and standards for all electrical aspects of SA Water's water and wastewater infrastructure.
For this position, we are seeking the completion of a degree-level qualification in a relevant Engineering field coupled with extensive experience in the delivery of concept and detailed electrical designs. We also seek extensive experience with providing investigations and solutions of complex engineering issues and auditing of designs that have been created by others. With a focus on customer service and relationship building, a demonstrated ability to manage consultants and contractors, and interface with key stakeholders will also be integral to this role.
